Hotel rates

What are the hotel rates?
Below is a list of prices for a standard Japanese room using the value-plan. Prices may change depending on meals, room type, and the plan. Please refer to “Stay Plans” for more details.

2 guests in 1 room ¥8,800 (Tax not included)
1 gust in 1 room ¥10,800 (Tax not included)
Does the same rate apply for Saturday / Golden week / New years and Obon holidays?
There are 3 types of rates, which are “weekday rates”, “before holiday rates” and “new years rates”. Before holidays, the price increases by ¥2,000. The same applies for holidays like Golden week and Obon. During new years season, the price increase by ¥5,000.
Are there discounts for late parties?
We are sorry, but we do not have discount services because our rates are relatively low to begin with. Thank you for your understanding.
Why is the rate so low?
We have optimised our costs and service policy to pass down the savings to our customers. Our mission is to provide a great Onsen/Dining experience at a reasonable price.
What are the rates for children?
Children in elementary school will receive a ¥1,000 discount. Dinner menu is almost the same as the adult menu. The rate for children under elementary school is ¥1,500. Dinner/Futon is not included in the rate. Futon will cost ¥1,000 and a children’s menu will cost ¥1,600 if necessary.
I noticed that the rate changes depending on the number of guests.
Do children count as guests?
Any children in or older than elementary school will count as guests. Children younger than that will not count as guests.

Reservation

When can I start making reservations?
There are no restrictions. You can make a reservation at any time.
Can I make a tentative reservation?
Yes you can. However, there is an expiration date and other regulations concerning tentative reservations. Please consult our staff accordingly.
Are there any plans without meals?
On weekdays, we have a plan without dinner and breakfast, and another with just breakfast. The rates are the same for both plans. For 1 person using the Japanese room on the 2nd floor, the rates are as follows: 1 guest in 1 room: ¥8,000, 2 guests in 1 room, ¥6,000, 3 or 4 guests in 1 room, ¥5,000 (tax not included).
Can I stay by myself?
Yes, as long as we have an opening.
Are there any plans only for the hot spring bath? Or a hot spring bath plan with dinner?
Yes, we have day-plans for dinner, as long as we have an opening. You can use the hot spring bath for an additional charge of ¥50 (Towel rentals are ¥200). We do not have plans solely for the hot spring bath or lunch. However, at Yumoto-kan, another hotel in our group, there are hot spring bath plans and lunch plans.
I want to make a reservation, but the number of guests may change.
When should I notify the hotel by?
If the number of rooms change because of the change in the number of guests, please contact us as soon as possible. Regarding other minor changes, please contact us by the day before and we will be able to make the necessary adjustments.
Is there a cancelling fee?
Cancelling fees will be incurred from 7 days before the reserved date. From 7 ~ 4 days before, you will be charged for 10% of the original rate. 3 and 2 days before, you will be charged 30%/ On the day before, you will be charged 50%. On the day, you will be charged the full price. During 4/29 ~ 5/4 and 12/30 ~ 1/3: 20 ~ 8 days before, you will be charged 20%. 7 ~ 2 days before, you will be charged 30%> The day before, you will be charged 50&. On the day, you will be charged the full price.
We sent a request to reserve rooms if other guests cancel. Will the room open up?
It depends entirely on the customer who made the reservation first. We call all guests 7 days before to confirm their reservations, so at that point, almost all reservations become final.

Meals

Where is the meal served?
Meals, both dinner and breakfast, will be served in the restaurant, “Fuuka”, located on the 1st floor (Chairs and tables). However, we may also serve meals in the hall (tatami) when serving large parties or when the restaurant is crowded. We cannot serve meals in individual rooms.
Is it a buffet-style restaurant?
No, you will be seated at a table and we will take orders from each guest (both dinner and breakfast).
What time is breakfast and dinner?
Dinner is from 17:30 ~ 21:00 (last order at 19:30),
Breakfast is from 7:30 ~ 9:00 (last order at 8:30).
What is the menu like?
We use the best ingredients available at the time and come up with original dishes, so it depends. Below is an example of a dinner menu in the value-plan.
Sashimi: Greater amberjack, tuna, squid
Mini dish: Braised pork belly
Fried dish: Simmered head of sea bream
Nabe dish: Kuro-buta pork nabe
Kamameshi: Seasonal kamameshi (Crab Kamameshi)
pickles: Assorted
Dessert: Custard pudding
Our menus change by seasons and available ingredients, but the dinner menu structure follows the pattern shown above. Please see “Meals” for more details.
What kind of dishes can I order on the day?
We have 7 dishes you can choose, including Yakitori or Fried chicken. We also have the Omi beef steak (100g ¥2,600, tax not included). (supplies are limited).
Can I change the menus when staying more than 1 night?
Yes you can.
Is the menu the same for adults and children?
Dinner: We make minor adjustments to the adult menu for the children. We also have meals for children below elementary school at ¥1,600 (tax not included).
Breakfast: It is the same menu for both adults and children. You can order additional menus from ¥1,000 (tax not included).
My child has allergies. Can you make the necessary adjustments?
Yes, we will do everything that we can, please consult us ahead of time.
Are there private dining rooms?
Yes, the “Shakunage” hall is 50㎡ in size and can hold up to 48 guests. The “Momiji” room has chairs/tables and can hold up to 24 guests.
Is there an additional fee if I want to use the private dining rooms?
For parties with 16 or more guests, no. For parties with 15 or less guests, there will be an additional ¥5,000 room charge. (If a party with less than 8 guests want to use the room, reservation must be made 3 days ahead of time).

Banquets

Are there hostesses available?
Yes. If you are using the hostess service, you will not be charged for the private dining room.
I want to add a day-plan guest to my party, can I do that?
Yes. The day-plan in the value plan costs ¥3,000 (tax not included). The guest can use the hot spring bath for an additional ¥50 (Towel rentals are ¥200).
Are there any rooms for an after-party?
If the “Momiji” room is open, you can use it to host your after-party. You can make reservations from 14:00 ~ 23:00. The room will cost ¥2,000 (tax not included) per hour. You can bring in your own foods and drinks, or you can make a reservation beforehand for foods and drinks. You can make reservations for after-parties from 2 days before your stay.

Rooms

What are the rooms like?
There are 5 types of rooms. 10㎡ Japanese room (Max cap. 3, 2 rooms), 13㎡ Japanese room (Max cap. 4, 10 rooms), 23㎡ Japanese room (Max cap. 6, 1room), Suite room, 21㎡ Japanese room + Western rooms, (Max cap. 6, 1 room), Japanese/Western rooms (7㎡ tatami + twin-bed, Max cap. 4, 4 rooms), DX twin Japanese room (twin-bed, Max cap. 2, 2 rooms). All rooms have bathrooms but no baths. Please use the public bathing facilities.
Are there odour-proof systems for non-smoking rooms and guest rooms?
8 Japanese rooms, 4 Japanese/Western rooms, 2 DX Twin Japanese rooms, a total of 14 rooms are non-smoking. You can make requests upon reservations, so please let us know (Depending on existing reservations, we may not be able to fulfil your request). We also ventilate and remove odours in other rooms upon cleaning).
Are there any rooms with a bath?
We’re sorry, but we do not have any rooms with a bath. Every room has a bathroom and a sink.
What appliances are available in the rooms?
In each room there is a TV, safe, fridge (empty), tea set, electric kettle, short haori, girdle, toothbrush, towel, and bath towels. You can also pick up a Yukata that fits you at the front desk when checking in.
Is there a hair dryer in the room?
Rooms on the 3rd floors come with a hair dryer. The rooms on the 2nd floor do not. There are dryers available in the hot spring bath. You can also rent them at the front desk.
Can I see lake Biwa from my room?
Unfortunately, you can't barely see lake Biwa from our rooms.
Are the toilets western-style?
All rooms have a western-style toilet. All toilets have the wash-let(with heater) system installed.
Can I adjust the AC in my room?
Yes, you can.
Are the TVs terrestrial digital broadcast compatible? Are they flat screen TVs?
Yes, all rooms have a terrestrial digital broadcast compatible flat screen TV (32 inch). In the lobby, there is also a terrestrial digital broadcast compatible 40 inch flat screen in the lobby.
Can I use the Internet in my room?
You cannot in the room, but there is a computer for the guests in the lobby where you can use the Internet. The meeting rooms have a LAN cable, so you can also use the Internet there.

Onsen (Hot spring bath) Yumoto-kan

Is the public bath hot spring? Are there outside bathes?
Absolutely! Our hot spring comes from the famous Ogoto spring. However, we do not have outside bathes. There are outside bathes at Yumotokan.
Can I use the hot spring bath 24 hours a day?
You can use the hot spring bath from 14:30 ~ 24:00 and 6:00 ~ 10:30.
Is the Yumotokan nearby?
It is attached to the Yumotokan. You can access it using the passageway on the side of the entrance.
Can I use the public bath of Yumotokan too?
You can use the gorgeous hot spring bathes of Yumotokan until you check out at an additional cost of ¥600. If you wish to do so, please let us know when checking in and you will receive a card key for the passageway that leads to Yumotokan. You do not need to make reservations beforehand.
Are there any outside bathes that I can rent out?
There are none in our building, but you can do so at Yumotokan. The charge is ¥2,000 (tax not included) fro 50 minutes.
Are there any rooms with a private outside bath?
No. There are in Yumotokan, so please contact them for more details.
Do I have to bring my own bath towel when going to Yumotokan?
There are bath towels available at Yumotokan that you can use.
Are there lockers at the public bathes?
Yes
What kind of male amenities/female cosmetics are available?
For men, we have a comb, shaving razor, liquid, lotion, hair tonic, heel cream, and peeling gel. For women, we have a brush, hair conditioner, heel cream, peeling gel, and beauty spring (all-in-one gel cream). All these goods are available at the bath.

Your stay

When can I check-in/check-out?
You can check-in from 14:00 and check-put from 11:00
I will be arriving late. When do I have to check-in by?
If your plan includes dinner, the last order is at 19:30, so we ask that you arrive by then. If your plan does not include dinner, you can arrive at any time. However, if you wish to check-in after 22:00, you will need to go to the front desk at Yumotokan, so please go there directly.
Are there curfews?
No.
Can I bring pets?
We’re sorry, but you cannot. There is however a pet hotel nearby, so let us know when making reservations. You can stay with assistance dogs (seeing dogs/hearing dog/helper dog).
Can I wear slippers at restaurants, in the hotel?
Yes.
Do I have to set up my own futon? Do I have to raise the futon in the morning?
Our staff will set up your futon during dinner. If you let us know a day before, we will prepare it accordingly. Also, unless you are staying for more than 1 night, we will not raise the futon before check-out.
Can you hold on to my luggage/car upon checking in/out?
Yes. Please let our front desk staff know.

Facilities

Is there a Karaoke system?
If you wish to use Karaoke at a banquet, you can do so an additional cost of ¥5,000 (tax not included) for 2 hours (reservation required). We also have a Karaoke system in the recreational room, which you can use at ¥1,000/hour (tax not included) per room (Max cap. 10, reservation required).
Is there a vending machine?
There are vending machines for drinks, beer, cocktails, and ice creams on the 1st floor. It is almost the same price as in the city. You can also purchase cigarrets at the front desk.
Are there clubs or restaurants that are open late?
Not in our hotel, but there is a night lounge called “Amare” and a bar “Semimarutei” next door in Yumotokan.
Is there a meeting room?
Yes, we have school-style rooms that can hold up to 54 people. We have other equipments like projectors (some incur additional costs). Please see the “Meeting room” for more details.
Is there a smoking area in the hotel?
No there is not. There is an ashtray outside, on the right hand side of the entrance. Smoking is not permitted in the restaurant, so please use this smoking space.

Accessibility

Are there steps in the hotel? Is there an wheelchair accessible room?
There is a slope from the entrance to the lobby. However, other parts of the hotel has steps. We do not have wheelchair accessible rooms.
Is there an elevator?
We’re sorry, we do not. Please use the stairs to access the 2nd and 3rd floor.
Is there a wheelchair I can use?
Please let us know by the day before. However, we do not have an elevator, so you can only access the other floors through stairs.

Supplies/Rentals

My husband is pretty tall/wide, will the Yukata fit him?
Please do not worry. We have Yukatas for large sized men as well. We have a Yuakta section in the 1st floor, so please choose the best fitting one when checking in.
I cannot sleep using soft pillows.
If you wish to use a firmer pillow, we have them at the front desk. Please let our staff know at the front desk.
Are there slippers and Yukatas for children when checking in?
Yes. You can rent Yukatas for children at an additional cost of ¥200.
Is there a seat for children in the restaurant?
Yes. We have 3 children’s seats, 3 attachable seats, and 1 high/low chair for infants. Supplies are limited, so please let us know when making the reservation.
Can I rent Igo/Shogi/Mah-Jongg boards?
Yes, you can rent them out, free of charge.
What else is available for rentals?
Although supplies are limited, we also have humidifiers and a air cleaner machine that guests can rent. If you wish to borrow cellphone chargers or odour sprays, please let our staff know at the front desk.

Access/Transportation

How do I get there?
If using JR, please use the Kosei line and get to the “Ogoto Onsen Station (Formally known as Ogoto station)”. From there, we will come pick you up. From the Ogoto Onsen station, it is about a 5-minute drive to the hotel on our shuttle bus. If you’re using your own car, . Please take the Kyoto Higashi IC on the Meishin Expressway. It is about a 20-minute drive on the Nishiotsu bypass. Please refer to “Access” for more details.
Can you pick me up at the station?
Yes. We have buses available at JR Kosei Line “Ogoto Onsen Station (Formally known as Ogoto Station)”, and Keihan Line “Sakamoto Station”. We also have buses available for guests using the express line from Hieizan Sakamoto Station”.
Can you take me to the station in the morning?
Yes. Below is a time schedule for the hotel bus that leaves from the entrance of Yumotokan

Yes. There is a free parking lot in front of the hotel.
Is there a place to park my motorcycle/bicycle?
We do not have a parking lot specifically for 2-wheel vehicles, but we will make room for your vehicle in the car parking lot.
What are some good tourist attractions nearby?
The Ogoto port is 5 minutes away on foot. There is a park along the coast. It is a great place to take a walk. The famous block city-line of Sakamoto is a 10-minute drive. In Sakamoto, you can visit the Hiyoshi Shrine, the Kyuchikurinin, Shigainmonzeki, and other famous places. The foliage on Hiyoshi Shrine road is a must-see.

No, you cannot. We ask that you make payment in cash or credit card.
Can I get multiple receipts?
Yes.

Can you send me a quote? Can I pay via bank transfer afterwards?
Please let us know the date, number of guests, and the plan and we will send you a quote. However, as far as payment goes, we do not take payments after the stay. Please make payment in cash or credit card on the day, or via bank transfer beforehand.

What kind of newspapers do you have?
We have 5 papers, Asahi, Yomiuri, Nikkei, Kyoto, and Sports Hochi. You can browse through them at the lobby.
Can you prepare something special for a special day?
We can provide cakes and flowers for our customers depending on their needs/budgets. Decoration cakes: ¥3,000 (12cm), ¥3,500 (15cm), ¥4,000 (18cm). Flowers: ¥2,000, ¥3,000, ¥5,000.
Will I get “Yado-club” points?
Yes, we are an official member of the “Yado-club”. You will get points if you pay for your stay with cash.
Can you send me a pamphlet?
Yes, please send us your information and we will send it to you right away. You can also download it from the Kimorebi website.
Can you send me a map of room layouts or a floor plan for the hotel?
We can send you a simplified floor plan of the hotel. If you want to know the distance between a room and a certain facility, please let us know the details and we will send you the necessary information.
